Salmonella programme
More than 10 million samples have been taken for salmonella
antibody testing since the introduction of the salmonella
programme in 2003. As of March 1, 2012, a total of 25,674
QS pig production farms were obliged to participate in
the salmonella programme, and 23,370 of these farms
were categorised. The number of categorised farms has
increased by almost 40 percent during the last five years. The
proportion of farms with high salmonella infection risk has
fallen from 4.7 to 3.0 percent.
