The QS Advisory Board for Poultry has decided to expand the report of diagnostic data in poultry slaughtering. The guideline Data collection in poultry slaughtering will be adapted with effect from 1 March 2019.
In the new version the following points will be added:
- Discarded animals (with major discards)
- Breast skin changes in turkey
- Supplementary specifications for the camera systems
- Example images for the classification of footpad changes.
The newly collected diagnostic data (number of discarded animals, main causes of discoloration and changes in the skin of the breast) must be reported by the abattoirs retroactively to 1 January 2019. From 5 March 2019 on, the abattoirs will be able to supplement the values for 2019 already recorded in the poultry diagnostic database with the new diagnostic data and transfer them again. As of July 1, 2019, only records that contain information on the new findings will be accepted in the diagnostic database.
