QS has tightened the security rules for password creation in the QS software platform and redefined the password policy according to the recommendations of the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI for its initials in German).
The following higher security standards apply with immediate effect for new QS scheme participants, who receive their login access to the QS database for the first time, as well as for the change of existing passwords:
- Neither the user's first name, nor the surname or username may be included in the password
- The password may not contain more than 3 successive repetitions of the same character (e.g. aaa)
- The minimum password length has been increased to six characters
- The password used the first time can only be reused until the 7th password change
