To prevent the spread of animal diseases during the transport of feed to agricultural holdings, section 5.5.3 ‘Biosecurity measures during road transport’ of the Feed Industry Guidelines was amended with effect from 1 January 2026. Drivers must now be provided with instructions on how to comply with biosecurity measures in regions affected by animal diseases. These include, for example, regulations on the carrying and use of protective clothing, on entering livestock housing, and on the storage of customers’ own silo discharge hoses and dust bags on the farm.
